The SF Chronicle reported that a new 8-acre parcel in the El Cerrito hills has just been acquired through the efforts fo El Cerrito Trail Trekkers and Trust for Public Land. It will connect two large city parks to create 90 acres of green space called the Hillside Natural Area. Hillside includes three creeks, coast live oaks. Coyote, fox, deer, red-tailed hawks and peregrine falcons. It is also close to the 2,429-acre Wildcat Canyon Regional Park. After clean up and trail construction the new addition will be used for hiking, bicycling, and bird-watching.
