Birding The Richmond Bay Trail 8/18/13

Today we went birding on the Richmond Section of the Bay Trail from Pt. Isabel;  out about a mile and half and back. The highlight of the day was seeing about 30 White Pelicans flying overhead in a V formation. This was also the first time I have seen White Pelicans on the Richmond Bay trail. It is still early in season. We saw about 23 different birds. Most plentiful were Marbled Godwits, Willets, and Long-billed Curlews. Surprising absent were many of the perching birds. For today’s Bird list: Birding the Richmond Bay Trail 8/18/13.

In my backyard in the Berkeley flatlands,  I saw Red-breasted Nuthatch (I have heard them for a while) and two Oak Titmouse for the first time this summer.
