The BBC reported that British birds are taking a hard hit from the cold spring in the UK. Eight Stone Curlew were recently found dead as a result of the cold. The Stone Curlew is on of the UK's rarest birds with a population estimated to be about 400 pairs. At the end of March hundreds of birds including puffinswere washed ashore after harsh conditions in the North Sea. Short-eared Owls and Barn Owls have also been found dead as it believed the cold has interfered with their ability to hunt prey.
