Hungry Valley SRA posted its first Wildflower report of the year today:
As Winter nods off, the wildflowers in Hungry Valley are beginning to awaken. On Stipa Trail, we have lots of Baby Blue Eyes (Nemophila menziesii) blooming. The Lupine (Lupinus) and Fiddlenecks (Amsinckia tessellate) are beginning to take off as well, and we even see a few Poppies (Eschscholzia californica) here and there. It will still be several weeks before the wildflowers really take off, but we are certainly seeing the signs of Spring. Right now, viewing the flowers is like going on a treasure hunt, but soon there will be many-jeweled fields. . . Stay tuned and we’ll keep you updated.
