Wildflower Sightings – VisitKern.com | Kern County Board of Trade & Film Commission had the following new wildflower report:
Highway 178 boasts an assortment of wildflowers, including poppies, lupine, and fiddleneck. All throughout the Kern River Canyon, fiddleneck dot the curves of the roads. There is also an array of lupine in the hills near Caliente, along Caliente-Bodfish Road.
Things should be picking up at the Carrizo Plain National Monument, as the prime viewing season is cited from mid-March to mid-April. For more information on wildflower sighting opportunities in the Carrizo Plain, visit their website here.
Several poppies and lupine have been sighted in the hills of Bear Valley Springs near Tehachapi. They can also be spotted as you drive into the Tehachapi Mountains along Highway 58.
