Yesterday afternoon I spend some time in the Regional Parks Botanic Garden in Tilden Park in Berkeley. Botanic Gardens are a good place to see early blooming plants, especially Manzanitas this time of year. See my recent post Mostly Manzanitas. I was again photographing Manzanitas, especially the Hearst Manzanita, which is my current favorite. I also spent some time doing close-ups of bark on Tecate Cypress, which has interesting curling, peeling bark.

I was wondering if our colder than usual weather would effect the blooming of the manzanita at the Tilden Botanic Garden. Apparently not! I’ll have to head over this week. Thanks!

The bloom seems comparable to the past two years.
