The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds in a recent article on avian pox in birds discusses the spread of Avian Pox in the UK. The virus has been reported for many years in Dunnocks, House Sparrows, Starlings, and Wood Pigeons. Since 2007 there have been many of reports of the spread of the Avian Pox to Tits, especially the Great Tits.

In other cases the lesions do not significantly impair the bird’s functioning. Tits seem have a higher risk for serious impairment which can great survival risks.
