The BBC reported that the puzzle of what happens to the missing UK Painted Lady Butterflies is solved. Using radar, scientists have discovered that rather than die at the end of summer the butterflies do a high altitude and long distance migration. Although it was known that Painted Ladies came from Europe to breed in the UK, it was not known what the butterflies did when it got cold.
