The Wall Street Journal reported that a federal court ordered Scotts Miracle-Grow to pay a 12.5 million dollar fine for the use of pesticides in wild-bird food. This is largest fine to date for violating the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide and Rodenticide Act. Scotts pleaded guilty to using two pesticides (prohibited by the EPA) in its bird feed, falsifying registration documents, unapproved labeling and distributing unregistered pesticide.
