Science Daily reported on research identifying what mechanism tells plants to start producing flowers instead of leaves. Until this study very little was known about what triggered plants to make flowers under various environmental conditions. Researchers at National University of Singapore identified a molecule they dubbed FT-INTERACTING PROTEIN 1 FTIP1 that is essential to triggering the flowering action in plants. This research may have significant implications for horticulturists. Read more at Science Daily Scientists discover ‘switch’ in plants to create flowers.
