The Sacramento Bee reported that Sacramento has decided to scale back a solar panel project at Sutter’s Park. Although the project was to create green energy, it created other environmental problems. The park is a key feeding ground for threatened Swainson’s Hawks. The tall grass is where the Hawks feed on mice. The solar panels would have hidden the grass and mice. Through the advocacy and education by environmental groups a decision was made to scale back the project and preserve the Hawks feeding area.
