No Wildflowers At Carrizo Plain As Of 3/6/12

Carrizo Plain National Monument published the following wildflower bloom update on March 6, 2012.

“No wildflowers yet.  Due to low rainfall on the Monument, we are not expecting a nice bloom this year.”

    Not surprising. It can still be a good wildlife stop, though, if you’re down that way.

      One dry year when I drove through I saw my first burrowing owl and a golden eagle flew overhead at very close range. Also have seen pronghorn antelope there.
