New Record Holders For Smallest Frogs

National Geographic reports there are two new species of frog that are smaller than the current record holder. The two new species discovered in Papua New Guinea, are Paedophryne dekot (dekot means “very small” in the local Daga language) which is  8.5 to 9 millimeters long and the bumpy-skinned Paedophrne verrucosa (which means “full of warts” in Latin) who is  8.8 to 9.3 millimeters in length. The previous record holder was also a frog in Paedophyrne genus and is about ten millimeters long.
