The Wildlife Conservation Society reports that it has followed a young male elephant seal via a tracking device the past year and learned that he had traveled an amazing total of 18,000 miles. They nicknamed the seal  Jackson and followed him from December 2010, to November 2011.

Although they have tracked 60 Atlantic elephant seals, this is the first time they have followed a Pacific seal.
