Scottish Seabird Colonies In Trouble

Scotland’s seabird colonies continue to decline.  Significant drops have occurred in the populations of Arctic Terns and Kittiwakes at the Reserves of Orkney.The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds has requested that a proposed marine protected area include the birds’ feeding grounds and that the UK government conduct a census of seabird colonies to assist in the monitoring of long-term population trends.
