Mt. Rainier Wildflowers Still Going Strong 9/20/11

Plenty of Flowers No Fall Color

Sally’s Blog Reports

9-20-2011 – “Just got back from walking amongst the WILDFLOWERS on the Upper Lakes Trail heading toward Paradise. There were WILDFLOWERS GALORE all over the place! Check back for photos after I’ve had a chance to rest and regroup from this wonderful day with the flowers. Hiked from Reflection Lakes area up to Artist Pool and then upward toward Paradise where the WILDFLOWERS were thick and fragrant. Saw LOTS of fresh bear scat – a few blueberries ripe – but no fall colors yet. We’re still experiencing summer like weather after a brief cold spell. Mosquitoes are everywhere along with small annoying flies! Thickest where all the flowers are growing which is where the moisture is. We used a ton of bug spray and it didn’t even seem to make a difference.
