Efforts Fail To Save Least Terns in L.A.

The LA Times published a story that  spending $350,000 by the Port of Los Angeles to help save Least Terns has failed.  A spit of sand had been carefully groomed, chick fences had been installed and predator controls had been put in place.  However, for the sixth year in a row the  number of nests has declined.  Least Tern populations have declined due to loss of habitat, scarcity of food sources and predation.  To learn more go to:  Despite major effort, endangered seabird’s numbers drop at L.A. port site
