Photos of Five New Species found in the Mekong Region
The Greater Mekong Region includes parts of Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam and China. The area along Mekong continues to be a source of new species. World Wildlife Fund reported that over 145 new species have been discovered around the Southeast Asia’sMekong River in 2009 . Here is a National Geographic article showing photos of five new ones:
- Mekong Bat (Murina eleryl)
- Bald Songbird (Pycnonotus hualon)
- Stone- Sucking Catfish (Oreoglanis sp.)
- Cricket Frog (Leptoalalx applebyi)
- Fangless Snake (Coluberolaps nguyenvansangi)
