Carrizo Plain National Monument published the following wildflower bloom report on 28 April 2011:

” Note: The grasses are getting tall, and turning golden. We still have a nice display of Tidy Tips and the Coreopsis near the Education Center and Simmler Rd.

The Panorama Road is closed due to mud. Simmler Road is impassable. The south end of Elkhorn road is muddy and impassable for low clearance vehicles. Do not attempt unless you have a high-clearance 4X4.

• Tidy Tips: Carpets of flowers south of Goodwin Education Center along Soda Lake Road. This patch of flowers is holding on, but won’t be here much longer with winds and heat.”
