Crossley birding guides are very different from what we are used to
Richard Crossley has developed some new ideas when it comes to creating a birding field guide. He emphasizes looking at relative size, structure, behavior, and habitat as well as field marks. The guidebook has many photos of each bird showing behaviors, various plumages, habitats and different positions. He includes pictures of birds both near and far. His book The Crossley ID Guide – Eastern Birds just came out. In the near future we can expect to see The Crossley ID Guide – Great Britain and The Crossley ID Guide – Western Birds. My writeup does not do him justice. Check his website at Crossley Books | Turning birding Upside Down to learn more about this different approach to birding and field guides including podcasts and videos.
