The Culprit In A Birds Falling From Sky Incident

One group of recent bird deaths was due to the U.S.Department of Agriculture.

200 Starlings were found dead in Riverside Park.  The cause of death was a poisoning carried out at the request of farmers.   European Starlings have been known to eat large quantities of feed at dairy farms.  Under a USDA program farmers can request that the U.S. Department of Agriculture poison birds.  This was the cause of death of these birds.  What was unusual in this case was that the birds were poisoned ten miles away.  Typically the birds fall out of the trees that they are roosting in.  This time they flew ten miles before falling out of the sky.  To read the full story go to:  Bye Bye Blackbird: USDA acknowledges a hand in one mass bird death
