New Anza Borrego Wildflower Report 2/27/11

Anza Borrego Desert Natural History Association has a new wildflower bloom report for February 27, 2011.  They report:

“Desert Dandelions are bringing their cheery yellow flowers to the Borrego Valley and adjacent canyons. Along the Coyote Canyon jeep road, you’ll find them all the way to Desert Gardens and Ocotillo Flat. They are accompanied, of course, by white Desert Pincushion flowers whose numbers should soon increase. Meanwhile, such stalwarts as Chuparosa, Rock Daisy, and Phacelia distans are practically everywhere in the valley.

On an east-west drive on the Borrego-Salton Seaway (S22), when we stopped to admire some Desert Sunflowers between mile markers 36 and 37, we were delighted to see the Notch-Leafed Phacelia on a bank on the south side of the road.”
