Sign-ups are Closing Soon

The Audubon Christmas Bird Count is from December 14th to January 5th.  If you are interested in participating in this year’s Christmas Bird Count now is the time to sign up.  California has over 100 count schedules this year.  To learn more about the bird count click Christmas Bird Count.  Click Planning your Christmas Bird Counts to see this year’s schedule including links to local compilers and sign-ups as well as last year’s findings.

The bird count helps researchers and conservation biologists study long-term health and status of bird populations across North America.  The count helps document changing bird populations of the past 100 years.  The information can be used to show environmental threats and need for habitat protection.

Sign up  deadlines are approaching fast.  Deadline for the Oakland count sign-up  is November 28; for the San Francisco, it’s December 11. For further information on the Oakland count, call Dave Quady, 510.704.9353, or Bob Lewis, 510.845.5001. For the San Francisco count, email sfbirdcount@yahoo.com.  Call the Golden Gate Audubon office, 510.843.2222, if you need help signing up or want more information.
