The population of wild condors in California has reached 100. This is up from 22 wild condors when U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service started the captive breeding program in 1982. There are plans to release another 11 condors in the next several months. Condors have also been successfully hatching and raising young birds in the wild. 16 hatchlings have successfully survived in the wild since 2004.
