Sandhill Cranes have started returning to the Woodbridge Ecological Reserve. You can view them on your own or go on an organized tour where you can view them from a newly updated bird blind. The Cranes typically fly to the Reserve in great numbers late in the afternoon. You can often seem them during the day at Staten Island in the Sacramento River Delta.

I am real interested in hearing about what you see at Sacramento NWR. Its my favorite birding spot, although I usually go a little later in the season.

I’d probably make more than a day of it and also head up to Sacramento NWR. Spend the night in Willows.

I would recommend making a day of it and going to Staten Island and Consumnes River Preserve (http://www.cosumnes.org/) as well.
