Michael Frye is a nature and landscape photographer based in the Yosemite area. He is an excellent instructor who gives detailed and challenging assignments. His Digital Landscape class at “Betterphoto”, on-line photography school was extremely helpful in my growth in landscape photography. He gave the most thorough and helpful feedback of any of the on-line classes I have taken. His very detailed critiques were about what worked in a photo and suggestions on how to improve my work both in taking the picture and in the digital darkroom were unsurpassed. He was also one of the first instructors I worked with who really seemed to grasp and teach digital when other instructors were still struggling with the transition from film to digital. I continue to learn from following his weekly photo critiques on his landscape blog. He was one of the photographers featured in The World’s Top Photographers and the Stories behind their greatest images-Landscape.
He took some excellent photos of this year’s Carrizo Plain bloom, which can be seen on his April 9th posting at his Yosemite Journal blog: http://www.michaelfrye.com/yosemite-journal/
He is very generous in sharing information and is a regular contributor to the Calphoto Yahoo discussion group http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/calphoto/
