Great Smoky Mountains Wildflower Update 5/3/13

A new wildflower bloom report dated May 3rd, 2013 was posted today by Great Smoky Mountains Association:

Cooper Road Trail – (Abrams Creek Ranger Station to Hatcher Mountain Trail) – Lyre Leaf Sage, Golden Ragwort, Crested Dwarf Iris, Hispid Buttercup, Rue Anemone, Foam Flower, Dog Hobble, Meadow Parsnip, Red Clover, White Clover, Fire Pinks, Carolina Vetch, Wild Phlox, Trillium Erect, May Apple, Star Chickweed, Sweet White Violet, Common Blue Violet, Common Cinquefoil, Wild Geranium, Solomon’s Seal, False Solomon’s Seal, Doll Eyes, Little Brown Jugs, Plantain Leaf Pussy toe, Star Grass, Yellow Mandarin, Cancer root, Bristly Locust, Blackberry, Birdfoot Violet, Dogwood, Gay Wings, Flame Azalea, Pinxter-flower (first that I have seen in many years), Catsby Trillium,  Robins Plantain,  Wild Oats, Violet Wood Sorrel and Vasey Trillium (1).   Note:  At this time the Crested Dwarf Iris, Fire Pinks, Gay Wings and the Pinxter-flower make this an outstanding wildflower trail.
