Lassen National Forest is planning a restoration near Campbell Mountain which is north of Highway 44. As a result of fire suppression there has been a decrease in tree density and an increase in dead forest litter. The plan call for the removal of tress and use of prescribed burns to create healthier conditions and improve the forest’s resistance to disease and insect outbreaks. It is hoped this will result in the restoration of pines, mixed conifer stand and meadows. Read more in the Sacramento Bee: Lassen forest officials to unveil restoration plans
