Sahara Mustard Continues to Threaten Anza Borrego Wildflowers

Sahara Mustard Is Back: Bigger and Stronger Than Ever

The alien and invasive Sahara Mustard in Anza Borrego State Park continues to spread and compete with or destroy native desert  wildflowers.  Park Service and volunteers are working to eradicate the alien mustard but it is questionable how successful their efforts will be.  Early reports are the mustard is much worse than last year.  The winter rains are not only good for wildflowers but also the Sahara Mustard.  To learn more read last year’s post on Sahara Mustard and recent articles at RV.NET Desert wildflowers in peril and Anza Borrego Travel Net Stopping the invaders in Anza Borrego If you are interested in volunteering to help weed out the mustard check the park website Anza Borrego State Park.
