Massive Succulent Theft Scheme Nets Man Two Years of Federal Time
L.A. Taco reports
Last August, we watched some jackass in a Prius pull over to the side of the street in Highland Park to jack a large succulent from the Los Angeles Police Museum. Today, we learned of a more sophisticated plot seeking to devoid our landscape of these thick gray-green beauties.
A South Korean national named Byungsu Kim has just been sentenced to two years of federal after getting busted in 2019 with more than $150,000 worth of succulents ripped out of Northern California’s state parks. He’ll also need to pay nearly $4,000 to pay for their replanting.

A federal judge canceled major oil and gas leases over climate change
NPR reports
Late last year, just days after pledging to cut fossil fuels at international climate talks in Glasgow, Scotland, the Biden administration held the largest oil and gas lease sale in U.S. history.
On Thursday, a federal judge invalidated that sale in the Gulf of Mexico, saying the administration didn’t adequately consider the costs to the world’s climate.

For 2022, we are going virtual again, and you can join us for our eleventh annual Wild & Scenic Film Festival from anywhere with an internet connection and tickets are now on sale through our partner Qudio! We will be featuring a series of short, inspiring, and engaging films that showcase amazing people, beautiful places, and unique perspectives.
