NPR has a story on the impact of the Hurricane Maria on Puerto Rico’s trees. The damage was sever as most trees lost all there leaves and some were uprooted. There is some hope as researchers found that after Hurricane Hugo regrowth of Puerto Rico’s trees that remained standing was two to three times as robust and productive as a normal healthy forest.
