New Butterfly Discovered In Alaska

National Geographic reports on the first new Butterfly species described from Alaska 28 years. The Tanana Arctic Oeneis tanana may also be the state’s only endemic butterfly. The species had actually been hiding in plain sight in museums since at least 1955, the team discovered, masquerading as its relative.
