The Golden Gate Audubon Birdathon 2015 — held throughout the month of April and early May — is the biggest annual fundraiser for Golden Gate Audubon Society. Audubon’s field trips are free during the other 11 months of the year. This year we are aiming to raise $50,000 to support our conservation and environmental education programs.
The Birdathon includes two kinds of guided trips – Competitive (where you’re aiming to sight the most birds) or Casual (where you’re having fun and learning about birds). The trips with a competitive focus generally have the word “Big” (as in “Big Day”) in the title. You can also choose to Create Your Own Birdathon trip by yourself or with friends.
Sign up for one of our 24 exciting Birdathon events — including behind-the-scenes tours of the Oakland Zoo and California Academy of Sciences, two (!) trips to see California Condors, our first-ever Birds and Wine trip to Sonoma County birding hotspots and premium wineries, and expertly-led guided birding trips to Southern California deserts, Ano Nuevo, Hayward Shoreline, Point Reyes. and elsewhere. This year I am participating in the Audubon Master Birding Program. One of the projects I have chosen to do as part of the Program is to help raise money by taking part in their Birdathon. Fundraising is something brand new for me!
