US Habitat Loss Major Cause Monarch Butterfly Decline

ScienceDaily reports that new research shows habitat loss of breeding grounds in the U.S., not the Mexican wintering grounds is the main cause of the decline of the migratory monarch butterflies in eastern North America. Industrial farming in the U.S. has contributed to a 21% decline of milkweed plants in the central breeding region.
