Last October the L.A. Arboretum removed an acre of grass and planted native wildflowers. Wildflowers now in bloom include tidy tips, clarkia, California poppies, lupine, yarrow and needle grass. Come see them at: SpringTopia! May 3 & 4, 10am-3:30pm | The Arboretum.
from the L.A. Arboretum Website:
We celebrate a world of plants at the two-day SpringTopia! Highlights include the Wildflowering L.A. exhibit and a host of learning opportunities and outdoor fun. Let our outstanding staff of experts show you the best plants and gardening techniques for Southern California. There will be musical performances and guest speakers, including Carol Bornstein, co-author of Reimagining the California Lawn. Topics will include vegetable gardens, orchard trees, drought resistant plants, and heritage roses. Kid-friendly activities, music, and food will add to the festivities.
SpringTopia! takes place in the Arboretum landscape. Tram tours will be free to members but space is limited and no reservations are required. The Gift Shop will be stocked with great native plants from Theodore Payne and lovely spring themed gifts. Our volunteer Creative Design group will be selling artistic cactus and succulent arrangement. Our thanks to Renee’s Garden Seeds and Dolphin Rentals for their support.
