I have often asked this question myself as well as some of my Audubon friends. Illana Bare from Golden Gate Audubon in a Berkeleyside article attempts to answer this question as well as pointing out other important facts about crows:
- Crows are increasing in Berkeley; Christmas Counts have gone from 30 to 90 in the 1980’s to current over 1,100.
- crows are not predating songbirds as aggressively as believed
- crows are quite smart and adaptable
