Santa Clara Valley California Native Plants Society Native Plants Sale Saturday 10/19/13
10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Hidden Villa Ranch, 26870 Moody Road, Los Altos Hills. The ranch is 2 miles west of the I-280 Moody/El Monte Road exit. Signs will be posted to direct you to the native plant sale. Parking is free. Come early for the best selection; bring boxes in which to carry purchases home.
Choose from scores of species of hard-to-find plants, including a multitude of Mimulus, Ceanothus, Salvia, iris, grasses, shrubs and many more. Fall is an excellent time to plant, when the summer heat has dissipated and rain is just around the corner.
Speak with seasoned gardeners about water-wise alternatives to a lawn, including native perennials, shrubs, wildflowers, and grasses. Attend a free class on “Success with Native Plants for Beginners” by Kevin Bryant from 1-2 pm. Browse and purchase books, posters, and note cards featuring native plants. Acterra Native Plant Nursery will also be selling native plants.
Proceeds fund chapter activities such as Gardening with Natives, field trips, conservation, and education, as well as the Trust for Hidden Villa.
