The Back Forty blog reported that Los Angels County’s plan to create a trash dump next to Joshua Tree National Park has been abandoned. L.A. had planned to use the Eagle Mountain Mine for landfill. The decision comes after 15 years of opposition to the plan by park and wildlife supporters , recycling advocates and local desert residents.
