New Wildflower Bloom Report From Theodore Payne 3/23/12

Theodore Payne just posted a new wildflower bloom update for southern and central California

Some of the highlights that they report are:

Burton Mesa Ecological Area ceanothus is in peak flower

Figueroa Mountain  sky lupines (Lupinus nanus) and tufted poppies (Eschscholzia caespitosa) have started to flower

Highway 198 through Three Rivers and into Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Parks, there is a colorful array of red, white and blue. The vivid pink-red of the western redbud (Cercis occidentalis), along with white flowering deerbrush (Ceanothus cuneatus), and blue flowered bush lupine (Lupinus albifrons)

Whitewater Canyon Preserve  bloom is hanging on

Lake Henshaw you will see nice displays of goldfields

Santa Rosa Plateau Ecological Reserve from Clinton Keith Road you won’t be able to miss the showy display of bush monkey flower (Mimulus aurantiacus
