The NY Times reported on a major conflict over a proposed three million square foot development that would consist of hotels, stores and other amenities in the small town of Tusayan, Arizona. The town’s population is 60o and is five miles from the Grand Canyon’s south rim. Developers are accused of first creating and then taking over the local government. Opposition to the is staging a recall election in March. The conflict includes lobbyists, lawyers and accusations of election fraud, slum lording, conflict of interests and greed.
