Updated 1/31/12
Today the Birding by Ear Class went to Coyote Hills Regional Park. It consists of nearly 978 acres of marshland and grassland covered hills. The waters to the west and south of Coyote Hills are part of the Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge, operated by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. We identified 63 species. Some of the highlights today were seeing a White-faced Ibis, which is rare at this site, good looks at Lincoln’s Sparrow, seeing a Great Horned Owl, lots of waterbirds and a number of raptors. Here are a few of my photos from today.

Thanks. The list is so large due to the skills of the trip leader Denise Wight and the many skilled birders in the class.
