CSU Channel Islands Wildflower Update 2/25/13

Please note important clarification. Thanks to  comment from Plefton: The information is about roads near CSU Channel Islands, which is many miles over land and water from the actual Channel Islands.

Desert USA has the following wildflower report for the CSU Channel Islands 2/25/13

CSU Channel Islands had lots of grape soda lupine (the ones that don’t smell) as well as some poppies along side the main road.  Also saw a lot of this purple/pink bunches of these flowers in twisties of Grimes Canyon road between Moorpark and Fillmore, California.

  1. Sandy – I love your blog, but your headlines sometimes drive me crazy. This is one of them. The information is about roads near CSU Channel Islands, which is many miles over land and water from the actual Channel Islands. But your headline implies news about the islands. I was expecting something about giant coreopsis on Anacapa.

    • Sorry about the confusion. I misunderstood the brief post at DesertUSA. Many thanks for the clarification. Will try to do better with headlines.

  2. Actually this is not a report of wildflowers on the actual Channel Islands but rather in the vacinity of Cal State University, Channel Islands, which is located in Oxnard. The areas they reference are in Ventura Co, Grimes Canyon being a very steep and twisting road above the Santa Clara river. The islands themselves are blooming right now but it has been a very dry year so may not last long. Spencer

    • Thanks for information. I really blew this one. Totally misunderstood the post at DesertUSA.
