NPR reported that insect biosystematist Shaun Winterton when looking at a Flickr found an unknown species of green LaceWing. He contacted the photographer, Guek Hock Ping, who had photographed but not collected a specimen of the Lacewing. A year later Guek Hock Ping contacted Shaun Winterton to tell him that he had now collected a specimen of the Lacewing. The Lacewing was examined by entomologists, who documented it as a new species. The new species is named Semachrysa jade, after Winterton’s daughter.
