Birding Pt. Isabel And The Bay Trail

Today I went birding  at Pt. Isabel with Golden Gate Audubon. Alan Kaplan led the walk and we went out about a mile from the parking lot and back.  The bird of the day was a Black Tern, which required scopes, field guides and lots of looks and discussion to confirm. Other highlights were seeing an immature White-tailed Kite doing his kiting (hovering), Brown Pelicans fishing and Black-bellied Plovers in various shades of breeding plumage. I saw twenty-three species but was only able to ID them all because more knowledgeable people than me saw and named the birds. Click Read More to see my bird list for today.
