An Asian Botanical Garden

Yesterday we went to Quarryhill Botanical Garden. It was a nice change of pace  from my usual native California focus to be in a garden that is exclusively plants from Asia.  It was on the early side and although many things had yet to bloom there were still a good number of shrubs and trees in flower.  Even though it was Saturday it was quiet with only a few people walking through the Garden. It was sunny and late morning by the time we got there so it was not good light for photos.  There were a number of birds about as well although none of them were from Asia.

Beginning in 1987 through the collection of seeds from Asia, Quarryhill has matured into a well established Garden with a rich Asian Flora.  Quarryhill has one of the largest scientifically documented collections of wild source Asian plants in the world.   Quarryhill supports preserving endangered species, collection of seeds of endangered species, education and research.   The garden is in Sonoma County outside of Glen Ellen.  For more information on Quarryhill Botanical Garden go to: http://www.quarryhillbg.org/
