A number of the books mentioned are not in print, but can usually be found by searching used book websites such as http://www.bookfinder.com/ or Amazon.  They may also be found in libraries, especially university libraries.

  8. Thanks so much,Sandy. Can’t believe there are some not falling off my shelves!
    In addition, though, I recommend Toni Fauver’s “Wildflower Walks and Roads of the Sierra Gold Country.” ( Some scary, flowery roads!); also, her “Wildflower Walking in Lakes Basin of Northern Sierra.”
    Plus: Jon Mark Stewart:” Colorado Desert Wildflowers.” Plus, his “Mojave Desert Wildflowers.”
    For this season, the Morhardt book you have on the list is excellent for our Calif.
    deserts. It Excludes the Great Basin desert.

    • Thanks Judy. I have added them all to the list. I had thought about including Toni Fauver’s books but left them out as originally I was only going to use floras. Once I decided to include wildflower guides as well I forgot to put them back. Thanks for the reminder. Toni’s books are excellent for locations as well and I have used both of them often.

  10. Great list, Sandy! I would also recommend Flora of the Santa Ana River and Environs by Oscar F. Clarke. This is a really excellent reference for Southern California, especially Los Angeles, Orange County and Riverside County.
